Tower of Refuge Walk 2025

Tower of Refuge Walk 2025

Sunday 27th April saw one of the Islands most popular events take place, the annual walk to the Tower of Refuge. The event is a walk out to the Tower of Refuge in Douglas Bay (at low tide) built by Sir William Hilary Founder of the RNLI. which in 2025 is 201 years old.

Tower's offices face the Tower of Refuge on Douglas Seafront and we have supported this annual event for over a decade, which is a huge fund raising and educational opportunity for the local RNLI on the Island each year.

In total 1,299 people participated and lots of positive feedback was received from attendees who very much enjoyed themselves. The RNLI were also very grateful and confirmed that in total they raised the fantastic figure of £1,986.78.

Oliver Cheshire from Douglas City Council, organisers of the walk, "I to say thank you very much for once again to Tower Insurance for very kindly sponsoring the Tower of Refuge walk. It is always a pleasure to work with the team at Tower Insurance, you assistance helps ensure the neceesary safety measures are in place to help the event run safely!"

We have been granted permission to post a link below from local resident Frank Schuengel, who took some amazing drone footage of the event.
