Tower has been providing insurance to the Isle of Man since 1928

On 25th January 1928, a group of Manx businessmen incorporated Tower Insurance Company Limited, and the Island's first truly Manx insurance company opened it's doors for business...

The Directors of Tower met for the first time on 21st February 1928, and Tower maintains the carefully hand-written Minutes of that meeting to this day.

In 1948, following the Second World War, Tower was bought by the Liverpool & London & Globe Insurance Ltd (who subsequently became Royal & Sun Alliance and then RSA many years later) for £25,000. Tower has remained part of the RSA Group of Companies ever since the buyout in 1948. In 2021, RSA Group was bought by Intact Financial Corporation, headquartered in Canada.

There have only been seven Managing Directors of Tower. Arthur Skinner was Tower's first MD in 1928, followed by Ken Owen in 1948, Tom Osborne in 1968, Dennis Mahoney in 1988 and David Stacey in 1991. David held the position of MD for 19 years before handing over to Peter Gallagher in 2010 and Emmet McQuillan became Tower's latest MD in 2018.

Tower's premium income steadily expanded over the years as the Island's economy grew. Today, Tower has a gross premium income of over £20 million and has become firmly established as the leading insurance company on the Island.

Over the years, Tower has generously supported many local charities and organisations, contributing extensively to the local community. Tower is proud of the work it has undertaken in the local community, and Tower's work continues strongly to this day.

With a proven track record in serving the Island, as Tower approaches 100 years in business, Tower remains as committed as ever to the Island and to the community.
